Scholarships

YOU can make a difference in the life of a Union County College student by establishing a scholarship.

Union County College builds minds and shapes the future of its students. Many deserving students cannot afford the cost of the outstanding education offered at UCC. A scholarship is an opportunity to provide an education that will enhance their futures.

Scholarships can honor or remember family, friends, or organizations. Your financial assistance will help students receive the education necessary to compete in the increasingly sophisticated workplace of the future.

There are two types of scholarships:.

ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS
provide scholarship funds from interest earned on principal. An Endowed Scholarship will provide funds in perpetuity and can be established with a minimum gift of $15,000. This amount may be given over time and added to at any time. As the endowment grows, the amount of the scholarship awarded will increase.

ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIPS
are established by direct gifts in the exact amount of the awards. The scholarship is renewed each year with an annual gift from the donor. The minimum gift required for a named annual scholarship is $1,000.

How is a Scholarship Established?

A donor wishing to establish a scholarship can do so by completing the form below or by contacting the Foundation Office by telephone, fax, mail or email.

The Donor:

  • Decides what to name the scholarship.
  • Sets the criteria for awarding the Scholarship (if any).
  • Is invited to an annual Scholarship Reception with the recipient(s).
  • Receives acknowledgment in the Foundation's Annual Report.
  • May change the criteria or name at any time.

The College/Foundation:

  • Publicizes the new scholarship in its annually updated scholarship brochure (See below to request a copy).
  • Selects recipients through a faculty scholarship committee assisted by the College's Financial Aid Office.
  • Assures the management of the scholarship in accordance with the donor's wishes.

YOU can make a difference in the life of a UCC student by establishing a scholarship. An endowed scholarship gives forever.  Let the students themselves tell you how invaluable scholarships are to their education or browse through our scholarship donor list for details.  Suggestions for creating a scholarship can be found on the Scholarship Worksheet form below.  If you want more information or are interested in establishing a scholarship yourself, please Contact Us !
