Bequests are the most common form of planned gift. A donor may leave
cash, securities, retirement account assets or property to the Union
County College Foundation. Bequests can be designated for a particular
purpose, or be unrestricted.
SPECIFIC BEQUEST
Give by will a specific dollar amount or piece of property.
(For example: I bequeath to the Union County College Foundation
the sum of $10,000.)
RESIDUARY BEQUEST
Give by Will all or a portion of the donors assets, after
all debts, taxes, expenses, and other bequests have been paid. (For
example: I bequeath to the Union County College Foundation 25% of
the rest and remainder of my estate.)
CONTINGENT BEQUEST
Donate assets if the donors primary beneficiaries are no longer
living. (For example: If John Jones and Jill Jones should predecease
me, I give and bequeath my estate to the Union County College Foundation.)
RESTRICTED BEQUEST
Give an amount to be used for a specific purpose, such as to support
libraries, an academic department, or a program of study. Endowed
Scholarship Funds may also be created through a bequest or estate
plan. At this time, a gift of at least $15,000 can establish an
endowment. The Testamentary
Scholarship Form (PDF - 15 kb) can be downloaded for this purpose.
Union County College will be pleased to assist potential donors to
